Pair of Edinburgh outfits have a chance of securing entry into British and Irish Cup

THE Capital could have two of the four Scottish entrants to next season’s British and Irish Cup when the RBS Premiership ends tomorrow.

Alternatively, Edinburgh
Accies, currently third, and Heriot’s (fourth) could both be leapfrogged depending on the outcome of the two remaining games, which involve Melrose at home to Aberdeen and
Dundee awaiting Stirling.

Near the foot, Currie wait to learn their fate, with the distinct possibility of entering a play-off against National League
runners-up Hawick.

Bonuses for scoring four tries or finishing within a single score of the winners are likely to come into the equation and if Aberdeen were to pick up a single point, that would take them above Heriot’s. An Aberdeen win would mean finishing third.

Dundee can’t reach the top four, but they can prevent Stirling getting the two points they need to finish fourth and climb to safety themselves. If Stirling win, they would overtake both Capital contenders and save Currie – as would an Aberdeen win.

n   EAST Division Three side Queensferry entertain the Pigbarians charity side tomorrow in a match to showcase new facilities. Queensferry, formed in 2009, have taken over a clubhouse, pitches and facilities from Edinburgh Leisure as a not-for-profit organisation.

n   SEVEN-A-SIDE tournaments are at Haddington (1.30) and Gala (3.30).
