Opportunity to Czech out new Hibs keeper

Towering Czech goalkeeper Jakub Divis is poised to make his debut for Hibs in tonight's friendly against Irish outfit Bohemians.

And there will be an Easter Road bow for boss Colin Calderwood's latest signing, former Bolton Wanderers striker Ricardo Vaz Te, who has also been pencilled in for a start against the Dublin-based club who maintained an unbeaten start to their season with a 0-0 draw away to Dundalk.

Former Czech Under-21 star Divis moved to Easter Road during the January transfer window after impressing during a trial period but has been forced to be patient as Calderwood gave Mark Brown, Graham Stack and Graeme Smith the chance to impress.

The 24-year-old has been limited to closed-doors thus far, however, the Evening News understands Calderwood sees tonight's match - arranged to give Hibs some much-needed action during a month without a competitive game - as the ideal opportunity to introduce the 6ft 5in stopper.

Vaz Te has already donned a green and white shirt, making an impact as he stepped off the bench at McDiarmid Park as Hibs fought back from a goal down to snatch a draw against St Johnstone in their last outing as they made it six matches without defeat, a record of 16 points out of a possible 18 reigniting hopes of a top-six finish.

But tonight will be his first outing at his new home in a game which will see Calderwood make a number of changes, his hand forced by the fact that first team regulars Paul Hanlon, David Wotherspoon and Callum Booth have reported for international duty with Scotland's Under-21 side who face Belgium on Thursday night.

Calderwood will also have to decide whether to field midfield powerhouse Victor Palsson. The former Liverpool kid has been called into Iceland's Under-21 squad but doesn't depart until Wednesday.

However, the fact he's likely to be involved in matches against Ukraine and England before returning to Edinburgh next midweek could persuade the Hibs boss to give another of his squad some game time with an eye to Hibs' next fixture, the third Edinburgh derby of the season a week on Sunday.

Admission to tonight's match is cash-at-the-gate, 10 (adults), 5 (concessions).

Meanwhile, Hibs Under-19 side went down 3-0 to Celtic ahead of this weekend's SFA Youth Cup semi-final clash with Rangers at Ibrox.
