One is enough: Single-goal Hearts win suits Csaba Laszlo

HEARTS manager Csaba Laszlo believes his squad is ideally suited to achieving the kind of narrow victories which have rejuvenated their league campaign, adding that he will happily settle for 1-0 every week until the end of the season. Marginal wins have been a common theme of late as Hearts propelled themselves into the SPL's top six with a run of six unbeaten matches ahead of today's visit to Rangers.

Laszlo lauded the discipline shown by his charges during this period and believes his defenders are thriving in the absence of genuine firepower up front.

"I learned in my life that success is important. If you have success you have good foundations," he explained. "I learned this not only in Germany but all through my life. I think if you win every game 1-0, you will be champions.

"You analyse your squad and what is good for your squad. I think our squad is always good for 1-0. I would be happy with 1-0 in every game for the rest of the season.

"If you can win a game 1-0 this speaks for your discipline and strength. Especially in our situation, where we don't score many goals, having a good disciplined defence is important. Then, if you can score a goal up front, you get three points for this.

"Sometimes it's nice if you win 3-0 or 5-0, but 1-0 is always the most difficult to win. I think not about a pretty game, our target is to collect points. With 1-0, you collect the same points as with 5-0."
