On-the-mend Ledley grateful for chance to make his mark with Celtic

Joe LEDLEY reflected on a fulfilling first season at Celtic despite it having ended with an injury which kept him out of the Scottish Cup final win over Motherwell at Hampden.

The former Cardiff midfielder missed the run-in, which saw Rangers win the league, due to a hamstring problem but is on the mend and looking forward to new campaign.

Ledley said: "I loved every minute playing in front of the Celtic fans for Celtic. It was a great opportunity for me and I am grateful that the gaffer signed me.

"I think we deserved the cup and obviously it would have been nice to have won the league but it didn't happen. But we proved we are a good team we are in the final and I'm looking forward to next season."

Ledley will finish his rehabilitation next week ahead of schedule.

"Next week will be my final week and then I will go on holiday," the 24-year-old said. "Everything is going well. I tried to get back for the final but there was no chance. I've done well, normally grade two (hamstring injuries) take six to eight weeks so hopefully in under six weeks it will be fine."
