Olympics: Florence the machine

Edinburgh's 2008 Olympic canoe slalom silver medallist David Florence made a flying start to this week's Olympic test event at Lee Valley White Water Centre.

With a year to go to the London Games, Florence finished second in yesterday's C1 elimination round to underline the form he showed when winning last month's World Cup in Slovenia.

"It was a great start in second place," said the 28-year-old after easing through to tomorrow's qualifying round.

Florence is back on the water today, teaming up with Rich Hounslow in the C2 eliminators.
