O’Hara fades as Fisher lands Czech title

Steven O’Hara, who had shared the lead at the Czech Open overnight, struggled on his final round and the Scotsman ended up signing for a three-over-par 75 leaving him tied for fifth as England’s Oliver Fisher kept his cool in the final round to shoot a 69 and win by two shots at the Prosper Golf Resort in Celadna.

Fisher, who had shared the lead with O’Hara, continued a fine weekend to claim his first ever win on the European Tour finishing 13 under for the tournament.

Mikael Lundberg of Sweden finished second after remaining in contention throughout by matching Fisher’s 69.

Consecutive birdies at the seventh, eighth and ninth put Fisher in a good position going into the back nine where three more birdies and three bogeys proved to be enough to secure his maiden title.

He told europeantour.com: “I can’t really explain what it means. After the year that I’ve had it’s a relief in that sense.

“It feels fantastic. I’ve put a lot of hard work in and to come out, my fifth season on Tour, to finally have won it feels like now I’m there. I’ve proven to myself I can win.

“It just shows what the game of golf can do - how bad it can be and how great it can be.”

Paraguayan Fabrizio Zanotti carded a final-round 66 to move into a clear third place while Fisher’s compatriot Gary Boyd finished fourth, five shots off the top. O’Hara tied for fifth with compatriot David Drysdale, England’s Steve Webster and Lorenzo Gagli of Italy.
