Impossibly steep terraces, towering floodlight pylons looming over the playing surface, and wooden throwbacks to the 1920s were once common appearances at most Scottish football grounds – although more than a few vanished as clubs moved to new stadiums to avoid costly and time-consuming upgrades on tired stands.
