Scotland confirmed their place at Euro 2020 on Thursday night in way which was meant to be.

Steve Clarke’s men were excellent for the majority of the clash in Serbia before conceding a painful late goal to take the play-off tie to extra time then the dreaded penalties. But in the end they did it thanks to five excellent spot kicks and some David Marshall heroics.

It means the nation will be back at the top tournament for the first time since competing at France ‘98.

Picking out the best thing about the qualification is very tough, considering more than 22 years has passed and generations of Scottish football fans have not seen their country at a tournament.

It has also meant a generation of young football fans have not had the chance to collect their heroes in a Panini sticker album.

The company stated their delight on Twitter, noting the need for an upgrade on a Scotland ‘shiny’.

Collecting stickers, even for grown adults, is a ritual when it comes to the European Championships and World Cups.

Now Scotland fans will be able to go on the search for the elusive Andy Considine or be frustrated at the 13th Ryan Jack they have in their possession.

Supporters will only have to wait a few months with Panini having released stickers for the 2018 World Cup in March.

It will be an anxious wait to see which players are selected with 18 chosen for each team for the last World Cup.
