No bust-up with Jenkins, insists Saints boss Danny Lennon

ST MIRREN manager Danny Lennon has denied that a fall-out with Iain Jenkins led to his assistant leaving the Paisley club.

In a statement released yesterday morning, Lennon said: "It has been confirmed this morning that assistant manager Iain Jenkins has left the club by mutual consent due to personal reasons."

Rumours abound that the relationship between the two men had irretrievably broken down but Lennon, speaking ahead of last night's 2-0 friendly win over Dumbarton, said: "There was certainly no bust-up. Iain left for personal reasons and it's not for me to say what they are.

"The most important thing is that we move on as a club.

"We won't be bringing anyone else in at the moment, we have good staff here and the most important thing is that we are going in the right direction."

Former Dundee United player Jenkins was assistant to Lennon at Cowdenbeath and then followed him to Paisley last summer, when Lennon took over from Gus MacPherson.

Lennon's statement continued: "We would like to thank Iain for all his efforts, support and professionalism over the past 12 months at St Mirren FC and to wish him well for the future."
