Nic a golf lesson for charity

GARY NICOL, the son of the late Scottish golf writer Alister, will be doing his bit to help fight cancer this weekend by giving lessons in exchange for a donation to Leukaemia Research.

Edinburgh-based Nicol and his fellow Kingsfield Golf Centre coach David Burns were offering their service today and will be doing the same tomorrow at the Linlithgow facility.

Nicol lost his dad to leukaemia in 2002 while his Kingsfield colleague Adam Hunter, coach to 1999 Open champion Paul Lawrie, has been battling the disease in recent months. "Thankfully, due to amazing medical advancements and Adam's sheer determination, he has come through his treatment and is now in remission which is wonderful news," said Nicol.

"We know that Adam and his family are going through a very tough time and we wanted to do something to support the fight against this devastating illness."

Coaching slots at Kingsfield will be available between 9am and 4.30pm today and tomorrow and can be booked by calling 01506 671607.
