Newtonmore manager raises bar despite win

SHINTY: Newtonmore edged the match of the day 3-1 against Fort William on Saturday but their manager Norman MacArthur feels they must show a lot more if they are to mount a serious challenge for the title.

He said: "It was a good two points for us but I don't feel we have really got started yet and that's a bit of a concern for me.

"We didn't play that well and we'll need to do better, especially with Inveraray next up this week."

David Cheyne, Glen MacKintosh and Steven MacDonald were all on the scoresheet for Newtonmore.

MacDonald has been a big hit since returning to shinty after being released by Ross County Football Club.

"He is a big, powerful lad and after leaving County he has picked up a stick and it is like he's never been away. He has done well for us," said MacArthur.
