Newport 27 - 5 Gael Force: Gael Force blown away as Newport turn on power

GAEL Force's miserable British and Irish Cup campaign continued as they were demolished by a makeshift Newport outfit at Rodney Parade.

Despite the presence of three Test stars, the Scots were outplayed in every department. Newport were quickly into their stride and they edged in front immediately with a penalty from Dan Griffiths. The hosts continued to look sharper when it mattered and they stretched their lead with a well-worked try by full-back Gareth Wyatt and a brace of touchdowns from flanker Richard Dale.

The contest was put out of Force's reach when winger Ryan Owen snapped up a fourth Newport score, Griffiths landing the kick.

Edinburgh's Fraser McKenzie broke through for a consolation effort for the visitors.

Scorers: Newport – Tries: Wyatt, Dale 2, Owen. Con: Griffiths 2. Pen: Griffiths. Force – Try: McKenzie.
