Newbigging walks out on Bo'ness

Bo'ness United are in last-ditch talks to try and hold on to manager Willie Newbigging, who led them to a successful defence of their Super League title.

Newbigging has walked out just three weeks after beating Tayport in front of a packed Newtown Park to retain the championship in dramatic fashion.

It is believed he left after a re-shuffle within the club which would see former boss Alan McGonigal return to manage the team with Newbigging reverting to his assistant role and the axing of his assistant Derek Murray.

Bo'ness secretary Robert Sneddon is wanting to talk to Newbigging with a view to changing his mind but it would appear the coach - who took over the reins from McGonigal in the early stages of last season - has made his mind up to sever ties.

It's a trying time for Bo'ness. Rumours suggest they are set to lose several players to rival clubs and whoever is in charge of the team will be a busy man before the season kicks off.
