New dates for postponed SPL games announced

The Scottish Premier League has announced the rearranged dates for two fixtures postponed earlier this week.

Last Sunday's Clydesdale Bank Premier League matches between Dundee United and Rangers and Motherwell and Hearts were called off due to the Arctic conditions which have swept the country.

Fir Park will host Motherwell versus Hearts on Tuesday, 14 December, and Dundee United will now meet Rangers at Tannadice on Tuesday, 21 December.

All six top-flight matches scheduled for today were postponed on Wednesday due to safety concerns over the snow and ice which has covered the country, with new dates for the games yet to be announced.

Hibernian manager Colin Calderwood was frustrated as the adverse weather denied his side the chance to face St Mirren at Easter Road today.

Calderwood's side drew 0-0 with St Johnstone last weekend and the manager was seeking a third victory of his short reign against St Mirren.

He told Hibernian TV: "With two home games together, you would hope to take away a minimum of four points.

"That would have been our opportunity to try and win another home game. That would have helped us to build on the fact in our previous home game we'd kept a clean sheet and in the game previous to that we'd had a home win.

"It would have been an opportunity to try and generate some momentum from a batch of games. You're always slightly ahead and slight favourites when you're at home."
