Ness predicts Diouf success

Jamie NESS has backed new team-mate El Hadji Diouf to have a big part to play at Rangers after making his debut in last night's 1-0 win over Hearts.

The winger joined on loan from Blackburn on transfer deadline day and was named on the bench. However, injury to Lee McCulloch saw Diouf thrown into the action after just 20 minutes and youngster Ness was impressed by how he handled the occasion.

"It was difficult for him as I don't think he expected to come on so early," he said.

"But he showed some good touches and I think he will only get better and be a really good player for us."

Diouf - who infamously spat at a Celtic fan in 2003 - could now be involved in Sunday's Old Firm derby in the Scottish Cup.

Ness added: "He's obviously got the quality so, if he's playing, hopefully he will be able to do something for us."
