Neil Lennon left to sweat on Hooper ankle injury

Celtic are expecting a worrying 24 hours as they await news of the well-being of Gary Hooper ahead of Thursday night's Europa League tie against FC Sion at Parkhead.

Hooper rolled his ankle in the rout of Dundee United and had to be replaced. Neil Lennon, the otherwise thrilled Celtic manager, said Hooper was going for a scan to assess his prospects of playing against Sion.

"He did it in a tackle (with Paul Dixon], nothing malacious about it, but he'll have a scan on Monday. We're hoping it's not as bad as (Beram] Kayal's one." The Israeli is also suffering an ankle problem at the moment after hurting himself when playing for his country during the week. A crude tackle by Didier Drogba of the Ivory Coast did the damage, though Lennon has not given up on Kayal playing a part in the Sion game. "Beram is feeling a lot better, so we're hoping for the best for him."

Lennon also confirmed that African striker Mo Idrissou, of Borussia Moenchengladbach, will arrive at Celtic tomorrow for what amounts to a trial. He'll train with Lennon's squad on Tuesday and Wednesday and a decision will taken on whether to sign him thereafter.

The Celtic manager wasn't so cautious in his outlook when assessing this deconstruction of United, though. While Peter Houston bemoaned some of the cheap goals United gave away, Lennon sang the praises of not just his team but his squad. "It was a great performance with all different types of goals. And we could have had more. We left ourselves a wee bit open at the back at times but United can do that to you.

"Scott Brown was absolutely magnificent (he had been an injury doubt beforehand] and you saw the strength of the squad with the players coming on and making and scoring goals."
