Neil Lennon keen on James

NEIL Lennon has voiced his desire to lure the England goalkeeper David James to Celtic but also expressed caution by adding that a deal for the 39-year-old remains some way off.

Lennon told the Daily Express that James would be travelling north to have a look around Celtic Park and speak with club officials, including the manager himself, once they return from the pre-season tour of North America.

"There has been contact and we're hoping David will come up and have a look around the place when we get back from the States. That's as far as it has gone."

Celtic's Andreas Hinkel revealed to the Daily Mail that he may have to quit the club.

Asked if a return to Germany appealed, he said: "Yes. I have always said I would have no problem with that. We will see at the end of August."

In the Daily Record, Kevin Thomson claimed Lloyds TSB are killing Rangers after his 2million move to Middlesbrough was finalised.

"He (Walter Smith] is having the foundations ripped from him," said Thomson. "He put these bricks in place to build a proper team and now the banks take them away. They are now making it even more difficult for him to bring in players or just hold on to the lads he has."
