Mulrennan breaks leg at Musselburgh

LADIES Day at Musselburgh was clouded by a bad injury suffered by jockey Paul Mulrennan, who broke his leg after being thrown from Sound Advice, who he had just ridden to victory in the opening race for Keith Dalgleish.

Mulrennan suffered the injury after Sound Advice dived through the running rail shortly after taking the Balfour Beatty Engineering Services Handicap. His agent, Richard Hale, said: "He's gone straight to hospital and it looks a really bad injury."

It was a tough day for punters, although joint-favourite Patavium took the last at 7-2, while Regimental (5-2) and Lupin Pooter (6-4) were also well backed winners.
