Motorsport: Franchitti wins top Scots award

Bathgate's Dario Franchitti, who won the IndyCar Championship and Indy500 last year, walked away with the main award, the John Romanes Trophy, at the annual Scottish Motor Racing Club Awards in Edinburgh last night.

At the event at the Sheraton Hotel, attended by almost 400 people, including Sir Jackie Stewart and double Le Mans 24-Hours winner Allan McNish, Franchitti, partnered by his wife, Hollywood actress Ashley Judd, had words of support for his cousin, newly-promoted Force India Formula One race driver Paul di Resta.
