Morton 2 - 1 Livingston

A REJUVENATED Morton kicked off their home programme with a win over newly-promoted Livingston, which further cemented the belief they could be pushing more towards the top half than worrying about the relegation issue.

Indeed, such was their first-half dominance that they deserved more at the interval than the one-goal lead supplied courtesy of a ninth-minute skidding Michael Tidser drive, which visiting keeper Andrew McNeil seemed to go down for in lengthy instalments.

The second half looked like being a reversal of fortunes as Livi, who had clearly made it a tactic to get at trialist Kevin McCann, were level inside ten minutes, former Cappielow striker Iain Russell tucking home from the spot.

The home team endured a torrid next ten minutes as Livi piled on the pressure before hitting on the counter and retaking the lead through a Peter MacDonald penalty following a trip on Tidser.

Despite mounting Livingston pressure, and the late dismissal of Stuart McCaffrey for two cautions, Morton hung on to claim the points, and build further on what has been a bright start to the campaign.
