Morgan is keen to break more records alongside KP

Morgan and Pietersen rescued their side from a troublesome position at 18 for three to put on an unbroken 112 for the fourth wicket and take them past Pakistan's total of 129 for eight.

Pietersen scored 43 not out while Morgan plundered seven fours and two sixes in his 67 not our, the last of which won the game with nine balls remaining.

Their stand is the best England have achieved for any wicket in 24 Twenty20 internationals, with a 25th against the same opposition today.

Morgan said: "We haven't played that many Twenty20 games so hopefully the records will keep coming," said the Dubliner.

"I like batting with Kev, with the ability and power the guy has. I think we suit each other. One of us can sit in if the other is in form or fancies a particular bowler, so I enjoy batting with him.

Captain Paul Collingwood paid tribute to the calm head Pietersen showed after the side's early struggles.

"It was an important innings, he used his head," said Collingwood, who was run out for a duck.

"We were in a sticky situation, three down early doors, and really it was kind of an anchor role.

Pakistan skipper Shoaib Malik said: "The England bowlers really utilised the new ball, bowled in good areas and that was the difference."
