More questions than answers in Cup draw

CELTIC could face a repeat of their Co-operative Insurance Cup semi-final against Aberdeen following the draw for the last four of the Scottish Cup.

They will face the winners of tomorrow's Pittodrie replay between Aberdeen and St Mirren if they win at Inverness in their rearranged game on the same night.

Celtic beat Aberdeen 4-1 in January to reach the final of the Co-operative Insurance Cup, going 4-0 up after 33 minutes.

With all eight quarter-finalists in the hat, there were more questions than answers following the draw, with Dundee United or Motherwell facing either Brechin or St Johnstone in the other tie. St Johnstone and Brechin will replay at McDiarmid Park next Tuesday following their 2-2 draw, the same scoreline shared by United and Motherwell. The fixture was the only one of the quarter-finals not to be shown live on television, but the re-match is being televised live by Sky Sports, which should net each side 80,000 each.

The Fir Park replay has been confirmed for 29 March, but both clubs may yet seek a new date, given the match falls two days after Scotland play a friendly against Brazil.
