More glory as Haston takes women’s title

City OF EDINBURGH cyclist Louise Haston made it a club double when she secured the women’s title in the latest round of racing at the Meadowbank
National Track League.

The victory comes in only her fourth season of cycling, having switched from athletics after a talent-spotting day. Haston started the evening with a narrow lead over rising star Katie Archibald (Edinburgh Racers), who was crowned British Junior pursuit champion last week.

She scored points in the
six-lap scratch and course des primes to add the silverware to the British Masters jerseys she won earlier in the season.

Gus Gillies (Bicycleworks) also did enough to secure the junior title, while Mathias Barnett (Edinburgh Road Club) clinched the youth title in style, powering his way to a win in the Devil Take the Hindmost.

Meanwhile, Haston’s club colleague Bruce Croall marked his seventh successive title with wins in the 12-lap scratch, Keirin, course des primes and 10-kilometre block handicap.

The trophies will be awarded after next week’s racing.
