Mordaunt to leave SGU

EUAN Mordaunt is leaving the Scottish Golf Union after 13 years to run events such as the Amateur Championship and Walker Cup for the R&A.

Trained by the PGA, Mordaunt moved to the SGU to become events manager and has been responsible for 15 national tournaments in tandem with first Robert Burns then his successor as director of championships, George Macgregor.

“Euan has been responsible for significantly improving the staging of SGU championships,” said a spokesman for the St Andrews-based organisation.

Mordaunt will take up the role of director-amateur events at the R&A.
