Month to savour: Lauren lands medal haul

GYMNASTICS: It’s been some month for Deans Community Centre pupil Lauren Brash.

At the Swedish Cup in Halmstad, the West Lothian Rhythmic Club youngster claimed three medals in the junior section and was the bronze medallist in the all-round championship.

Lauren qualified for three individual apparatus finals. She took silver in the clubs with a score of 22.8, bronze for the ball with a score of 22.18 and she was fourth in the ribbon with 20.13.

Coached by Marion Sands, there was further good news for Lauren when she was selected to represent GB at the Olympic Festival in Melbourne next month.

In the girls’ under-15s, Strathallan School’s Amber Paterson, Francesca Blair, Vanessa Stewart and Anni Arthur overcame Putney High School.

Merchiston Castle’s under-13 team of Mackenzie Cox, Cameron Bowie, Jacob Fearnely and Alex Mikeev defeated Lancaster School.
