Michael Leslie makes Billiards history

BONNYRIGG'S rising young snooker star, Michael Leslie, added another trophy to his impressive record of successes by winning the East of Scotland Billiards Championship.

The 17-year-old became the youngest ever to claim the title with an electrifying display of potting in the final against Kenny Baird in the Match Room at the World of Snooker in Chesser, winning 519-283 in a competition which attracted 32 players.

The allotted time for the final was two hours and, after the first hour, Leslie was leading by 274-96.

Former champion Baird was gracious in defeat, saying: "That was some display of potting from Michael."
