McLister is confident Kelburne can dig for victory at Boghall

KELBURNE captain Steve McLister has backed his troops to "dig deep" and secure survival in the SNCL set-up.

While the Paisley club have notched some impressive results in their first season back at this level, they now find themselves in second-bottom place and in danger of taking an early exit. But McLister is confident they can take a big step in the right direction by beating West Lothian at Boghall today.

"We have left ourselves with a lot of work to do - however I am full of belief in my players," he declared.

"Every match between now and the end of the season will effectively be a cup final. It is a case of making sure we get the basics right and taking our opportunities. West Lothian have some excellent players, but I know we also have the talent to beat them when it matters." Dave Miller returns from holiday and takes over from Ian Bennett in the Kelburne line up.

Ironically, Kelburne's deadliest rivals Ferguslie can do them a huge favour by blocking out the challenge of basement boys Imans Edinburgh in the capital.

It would take something miraculous to prevent Dumfries taking the championship to Nunholm, however RH Corstorphine will give it their best shot this afternoon. At the outset of the campaign, most observers would have picked these two sides to be vying for glory, however it hasn't quite worked out that way for the West Edinburgh brigade. Though they have emerged from their mid-season slump, they will need to find something special to derail the hosts.

Elsewhere, SMRH and pro Jon Kent are likely to be much too strong for Renfrew, to deal with, while Weirs v Freuchie at Albert Park is a hard one to call.
