McLaren ‘big sheet’ on sale

TO MARK New Zealand’s Rugby World Cup triumph, the Bill McLaren Foundation has released a copy of the BBC commentator’s legendary “big sheet” that he used for facts while covering the first World Cup Final.

The All Blacks defeated France in that 1987 Eden Park encounter by 29-9, a more convincing margin than last week’s, and it was one of McLaren’s most famous commentaries.

The Foundation has produced a limited edition “big sheet” from that first World Cup Final, signed by Andy Dalton, who started the tournament as New Zealand captain before being injured. It can be viewed and bids made on the Bill McLaren Foundation website – www.billmclarenfoundation.co.uk/RWC-BigSheet
