McGlynn is impressed by Love's rebuilding drive

MUSSELBURGH manager David McGlynn has heaped praise on Bathgate counterpart Graeme Love for working wonders to fill the boots of his two star players.

Striker Jim Lister and former Hibs man Paul Riley both left the Creamery Park club in the summer but Bathgate don't appear to missing the duo nearly as much as some people had predicted.

"I thought they'd be weakened by losing two very good players but Graeme has done well to bring in Lee Johnstone and Gary McCulloch from Armadale," observed McGlynn, who takes his side to Bathgate on Super League business tomorrow.

Since winning at Newtongrange a fortnight ago, Musselburgh have gone out of the East of Scotland Cup to Jeanfield Swifts and lost 4-1 to Bo'ness in the league.

"We've been really low on numbers but, thankfully, I've got six players back for this game, including Calvin Shand, Darren Gourlay, Jamie Mackie and Steven Noble," added McGlynn.

"I have also signed Paul Harvey from Tranent and he gives us another option in the striking department.

"We'll need to press and squeeze Bathgate but, at the same time, I'm hoping the fact Bathgate have a good playing surface will enable us to get the ball down and pass it.

"I've had to chop and change the team too much so far this season and we really need to get a settled side on the park," McGlynn explained.
