McCurry knows Menzieshill will be hot competition

Inverleith coach Stephen McCurry has a full dossier on today’s opponents Menzieshill in the Subway national league – only a few years ago he was a player and then coach on Tayside.

“Billy McPherson and Bruce Cuthill would work a lot on structure. Today’s game will be a very hard one for us,” said McCurry.

The Dundonians have just one point so far, drawing 3-3 with Western Wildcats and last weekend throwing away a 3-1 lead against Grange to lose 4-3.

In contrast, Inverleith have won both their games against CALA Edinburgh and Greaves Clydesdale, and sit second in the table to Glynhill Kelburne on goal difference.

Grange face VWS Dundee Wanderers on Tayside. Last season the Edinburgh side recorded convincing 6-2 and 3-0 victories over Wanderers, and it would be a surprise if today did not bring a similar conclusion.

Western Wildcats finished fourth in the championship last season but have a renewed freshness under new coach Vishal Marwaha as they head to Bellahouston to take on Glynhill Kelburne.

Elsewhere, Graham Moodie’s Edinburgh University enter the fray for the first time this season against Greaves Clydesdale at Peffermill. Newly promoted CALA will hope to break their duck against AMN Hillhead.

In the women’s league Milne Craig Western clash with Grove Menzieshillat Titwood. Grange face VWS Dundee Wanderers, while Edinburgh University go up against local rivals CALA. Kelburne face Giffnock at Bellahouston.
