McCoist: Rangers are ready for Keane and Co

ALLY McCOIST has revealed Rangers are relishing the prospect of pitting their wits against Robbie Keane and the rest of Celtic's new recruits in Sunday's Old Firm clash.

While Rangers were unable to bolster their squad at all in January, Hoops boss Tony Mowbray brought eight new players to Parkhead, including on-loan Tottenham striker Keane.

But, despite being the highest-paid player in Scottish football history, McCoist sees no reason to fear Celtic's high-profile capture.

"Keane is a fantastic signing, let's be honest," said the Ibrox assistant manager. "He's a wonderful player who is very, very gifted. Tony has wanted to bring in his own players. Now he has done that. Time will tell if they can knit with each other and gel sooner rather than later but that's not really our concern.

"In one sense, I suppose it's quite exciting to have new players to be preparing to come up against. You have to say Rasmussen looks like he can score a goal while we've noted what the lad Josh Thompson has done at the back. They've signed players all over the park so we won't be leaving any stone unturned."

Victory for Rangers would allow them to restore their ten-point advantage at the summit of the SPL, with a game in hand still to be played at St Johnstone.
