McCallum hat-trick sees off spirited visitors

Musselburgh Athletic 4 Glenrothes 2

A HAT-TRICK for Musselburgh striker Ryan McCallum was the highlight in a terrific game of football.

Musselburgh took the lead against the run of play when Paul Tansey ran on to a good through ball and chipped the keeper. Midway through the first half and Glenrothes equalised, Roe Juskoviak driving the ball under the legs of Kieron Renton. Glenrothes then took the lead with ten minutes to play in the first half, Greg Meikle burying the ball from ten yards.

In the 55th minute, Musselburgh's Ryan McCallum beat the offside trap and scored for their equaliser. Just after the hour mark and McCallum scored his second of the match. He turned the ball in at the near post after good work by Tansey. Then with five minutes to go he completed his hat trick, heading a Tansey corner powerfully home.

Glenrothes didn't look like a side propping up the table. They are in a precarious position with only nine points from the season so far and fast running out of games to take them to safety. Musselburgh though are safe despite the worries of manager Davy McGlynn and have enjoyed a good first season in the Super league.
