McCallum grabs double as Bonnyrigg coast through

Bonnyrigg deservedly progressed in the Emirates Scottish Junior Cup after a hard-fought fourth-round tie with their West of Scotland opponents who made it difficult for the Super League side.

Ryan McCallum gave Rose the perfect start with a third-minute goal and Vale never really caused Rose too much trouble in the first half.

Alan Brown did have a couple of efforts but it was the Rose who increased their lead when Sean Grady finished a Steven Bunyan cross in 33 minutes.

Kevin McLeish had a couple of chances but the Rose went in two up at half-time.

Vale came out fighting in the second half and almost got one back from a free-kick by Jim Crowhurst before big defender Scott Ritchie headed home a third goal for the Rose from a Sean Grady corner. Credit Vale who had a real go at the Rose and Michael Burgess had a wonderful save from Vale frontman Crowhurst.

However, it was not long before the Rose were back on the attack and may have added several more goals before the end. They did get one more when man of the match McCallum turned in another fine Grady cross. The Rose now face a difficult away tie against Ardrossan Winton Rovers next Saturday.
