McBride out of Parkhead but upbeat

FORMER Hibs star Joe McBride believes being ousted from his position as youth coach at Celtic is just the kick-start needed to move his career on.

The ex-Everton and Dundee winger, whose dad Joe was one of the Lisbon Lions at Parkhead in the 1960s, spent the last six-and- a-half years working with the up-and-coming stars at Celtic Park.

However, a recent reshuffle of the youth set-up, which will see Motherwell's Head of Youth Development, Chris McCart, take over the same post at Celtic, led to under-17 coach McBride being released from his post.

McBride said he is determined to take the positives from his time at Celtic into his next job.

"After six-and-a-half years coaching at Celtic, I am a lot better at the job than when I started," he said. "I worked with some great people such as Willie McStay, Tom Boyd and the late Tommy Burns and I learned plenty from all of them."
