McArthur treble at root of Linlithgow win

LINLITHGOW ROSE travelled to Glenrothes, who are already relegated after finishing bottom of the Super League, and served up a 4-2 win thanks in main to a super hat-trick from a rejuvenated Stuart McArthur, writes JOHN GILMOUR.

His first came in the 15th minute with a simple tap-in. His second after 28 minutes put them further ahead before Sean Simpson brought Glenrothes back into the game with a goal from the penalty spot. After 75 minutes McArthur scored again before sub striker Steven Manson put Linlithgow 4-1 up. Glenrothes pulled a goal back through Bruce Simpson.

Bonnyrigg were in Dundee to play Lochee United, still not sure if they were safe from the drop and needing Hill of Beath to take something from the match against Whitburn. Lochee took the lead through Gary Middleton but Bonnyrigg equalised with an own goal from Jonathon Thompson. Graeme Hay scored from the penalty spot just before half-time to send the sides in with Lochee 2-1 in front.

Into the second half and Lochee's Thompson went from sinner to saint when he headed their third. Then, with time running out, Bonnyrigg's Craig O'Reilly pulled a goal back. After full time it became clear Bonnyrigg were safe as news of the Whitburn draw filtered through.
