Matthew shows Evian bottle

Catriona Matthew produced her best round of the week, but the Scot’s 69 for one under par still left her ten shots behind the two leaders, American Stacy Lewis and South Korea’s Inbee Park, after the third round of the Evian Masters in France, writes Elspeth Burnside.

The 42-year-old from North Berwick was tied for 47th place and overtook fellow Scot Carly Booth. The Aberdeen Asset Management Scottish Ladies’ Open Champion had a 74 for three over par and a share of 59th place.

Booth has been struggling with a left knee injury that was the legacy of playing in the Evian Masters charity football match against former French captain, Zinedine Zidane, after the first round.
