Matthew nine shots off the pace in Springfield

STATE FARM CLASSIC: Scotland's Catriona Matthew, with three top tens from six starts on the LPGA Tour already this season, was tied for 20th after a third-round 71 at the State Farm Classic in Springfield, Illinois.

Matthew, tied for ninth at halfway, finished on eight under par after the three-birdie round over the Panther Creek course and was the leading British player, two ahead of England's Karen Stupples. Glasgow's Janice Moodie, in her first tournament since giving birth to second son, Matthew, in March survived the cut with a shot to spare and was tied for 67th on level par after a third round 74.

World No?1 Yani Tseng, the Ricoh Women's British Open Champion from Taiwan, shot a third round 66 to edge one shot clear on 17 under par. American Mindy Kim was second on 16 under after a 68. Brittany Lincicome, coming off a victory last week in New Jersey, shot a 66 to join Shanshan Feng (69) at 14 under. Defending champion Cristie Kerr (66) was another stroke back at 13 under.
