Martin Laird hopes to make Ryder Cup team

MARTIN Laird is looking forward to the “big challenge” he faces trying to make this year’s Ryder Cup team.

The Scot tees off his 2012 campaign today in the first round of the Hyundai Tournament of Champions in Hawaii and is determined to catch the eye of European captain Jose Maria Olazabal over the coming months.

“It’s as hard to make that team as it has ever been,” said Laird, “but I look forward to the challenge; it’s a big one.”
