Maribor players vow to go for more goals

NK MARIBOR midfielder Mertelj Ales is confident the Slovenians can bulldoze their way through to the Europa League play-off stage by racking up another convincing victory over Hibs tonight.

Manager Darko Milanic and his squad touched down at Edinburgh Airport yesterday afternoon as they look to build on their 3-0 lead from last Thursday's first leg at the Ljudski vrt Stadion.

Maribor have vowed to add to John Hughes' European misery by going for more goals at Easter Road even though they already have one foot in the next round.

And midfielder Ales believes they will encounter few obstacles in their bid to finish of the job against Hibs. He said: "They are a very strong team, but we know we are strong, too, and we will win. Our philosophy is to win every match - we want to go forward like that and of course we want to win the match.

"We want to make sure our night is comfortable here, but we want to play a good match. We know we have a good result from the first leg so we are not restricted to only playing defensively. We think we can go forward to the next round. Every match is hard; this game in Scotland will be different, too. We know their team, we know their strengths and weaknesses and we are prepared for them."
