Maldonado stays with Williams

WILLIAMS have confirmed that Pastor Maldonado will remain with the team for the 2012 Formula One season but have yet to reveal the identity of his team-mate.

The Venezuelan’s rookie season saw him score a solitary point for tenth place at the Belgian Grand Prix but he showed glimpses of impressive pace, particularly in qualifying, and he brings a hefty sponsorship contribution from Venezuelan state-owned gas company PDVSA.

Team principal Sir Frank Williams said: “Pastor has proven this year that he is not only quick but also that he is able to maintain a consistent and strong race pace.”
