Main events during Vladimir Romanov's five years at Hearts
August: Vladimir Romanov begins negotiations to take control of Hearts, having previously expressed an interest in Dunfermline, Dundee and Dundee United.
2005
January: Romanov calls emergency meeting to cancel the agreed sale of Tynecastle to Cala Homes.

October: After increasing shareholding, Romanov sacks manager George Burley, whom he had appointed just months earlier.
2006
Burley's replacement Graeme Rix is sacked in March. Valdas Ivanauskas takes over, and is in charge as Hearts lift the Scottish Cup. Hearts finish second in the SPL.
2007
Cup-winning side gradually break up. Hearts finish fourth.
2008
After a three-man management team fails to make an impact, Steven Frail takes sole charge. Hearts come eighth, and Csaba Laszlo is brought in that summer.
2009
Hearts reach third place under Laszlo, but start the new season badly.
2010
Jim Jefferies returns as manager.
