MacDonald homes in on U21 hat-trick

Nobody has won the Scottish Under-21 girls' open amateur stroke-play golf championship three times in a row since Kathryn Imrie between 1985 and 1987.

But Nairn Dunbar's Kelsey MacDonald, winner of the title for the past two years, must have an great chance of completing the hat-trick at Dunfermline Golf Club's Pitfirrane course this week.

The 19-year-old Stirling University student opened her bid with a par round of 72. Craigielaw's Jane Turner is her nearest challenger on one over par.
