Lynsey Sharp to miss World Championships Trials

EUROPEAN 800-metres champion Lynsey Sharp has been forced to pull out of this weekend’s AAAs/World Championships Trials in Birmingham because of an ankle injury.

The Scot, who won the trials last year, will also miss the World Championships themselves, but aims to compete before the end of the season.

“It’s very frustrating to miss out on the trials and on defending my British title,,” Sharp said yesterday. “But there’s not a lot I can do about it, so my attitude is to take it on the chin and move on. My cross-training has been going really well – it’s been mainly a mixture of running in the swimming pool, work on the bike, and strength and conditioning. So my cardiovascular fitness is still extremely good.”
