Luke boosts bid for No.1

LUKE DONALD got his bid to become world No.?1 off to a solid start as he posted a four-under-par 67 in the first round of the The Heritage at Hilton Head Island.

The Englishman, currently ranked No.3, can take over at the head of the rankings with victory this week, even if world No.2 Lee Westwood wins in Indonesia due to more ranking points being available in south Carolina.

Donald, who has finished in the top five at four of his last five events, racked up four birdies to lie just three shots behind leader Garrett Willis.
