Lothian zeroing in on cup

LOTHIAN THISTLE meet Capital rivals Tynecastle at Saughton Enclosure tonight, kick-off 7.00pm, in the semi-final of the East of Scotland League Cup.

Fraser Ogilvie, the Lothian coach, said: "We are really excited and I personally think that it will be a cracking game between two sides who want to play football. We need to show great desire and 100 per cent commitment because I have watched Tynecastle twice recently and they are in good form."

The winners will face Spartans in the final.

Goalkeeper Kevin Swain returns after illness to give Lothian a full squad to choose from. Murray Balloch, the Tynecastle manager, said: "Lothian beat us 3-0 at Saughton in our last meeting there so we know that we have to improve.

"Lothian are a good side who have Wayne McIntosh scoring goals for fun so we have got to keep on his toes. However, if we play as I know we can then we can reach the final.

"We have worked on one or two things to freshen up our game plan."

Eddie Mearns is Tynecastle's only injury concern.

Elsewhere, in the Central Taxis Premier Division, Whitehill Welfare welcome Heriot-Watt University to Rosewell, kick-off 6.45pm.
