Lorna McClymont comes close again to maiden professional win
Scot finishes third in Super Bock Ladies Open after costly three-hole run in final round in Portugal
Lorna McClymont agonisingly missed out on a breakthrough win on the LET Access circuit for the second time in less than a fortnight.
On the back of following an opening 70 with a 65 to sit on nine under par, the 26-year-old Scot held a three-shot lead heading into the final round of the Super Bock Ladies Open at Vidago Palace Golf in Portugal.
It was a great opportunity for McClymont to make up for the bitter disappointment of being on the brink of her first professional win standing on the final tee in the Terre Blanche Ladies Open in France a week past Saturday only to be denied by a quadruple bogey.

“I think it was a tough one to swallow in France, “ she admitted. “But like I said, I think I’ll learn more from that. I put a little Instagram Story on just saying that I fell off my bike, but that's kind of what happened, and you just have to get back on it and keep going.”
McClymont will be saying the same thing after seeing her hopes of coming out on top in Portugal ended by a run of three straight 6s, costing her five shots, from the fourth hole in the closing circuit.
She’d started with three pars and covered the remaining stretch in one under, but, in signing for a 76, the Dumbarton woman had to settle for third spot on five under.
Victory went instead to England’s Ellie Gower after she signed off with a 67 to finish on eight under, winning by two shots from compatriot Billie Jo-Smith.
With two events remaining and needing to finish in the top seven on the points list to secure her LET card for the 2027 season, McClymont missed out on a chance to climb as high as eighth.
