Long way from Sevens heaven: Scots get off to bad start as Fiji run riot

SCOTLAND were outmuscled by Fiji in their opening match of the Cathay Pacific HSBC Hong Kong Sevens, losing heavily to the South Sea Islanders, 39-5.

A single try from Michael Fedo was mere consolation as Fiji dominated the game. Scotland Sevens head coach Graham Shiel admitted: “We’re really disappointed, we didn’t have much possession and when we did we didn’t retain it and against Fiji that makes it very difficult to compete.” Scotland will take on Australia and France today and Shiels watched both teams in action yesterday ahead of the matches in Hong Kong this morning.
