Lochside ease to win but praise youthful Aberdour

shinty: Lochside Rovers won the Bullough Cup 5-0 on Saturday, denying Aberdour victory in their first senior final. However, Lochside officials took time to praise the remarkable rise of the Fife club, predicting it won’t be long before they are gracing the big stage again.

Goals from David Devine, Brian MacCallum (2), Daniel MacKinnon and David MacInnes secured the silverware. The match was played at Aberdour’s Silver Sands Park after the final venue in Rothesay was deemed unplayable on Saturday morning.

Lochside, as expected, were too strong for Aberdour. But their achievements in reaching the big stage so early in their existence was praised by the victors. “In the first half, Aberdour were physical and did the basics well,” said MacInnes. “They have an awful lot of young players and I think, in another two seasons, you will see Aberdour in another final. They deserve great credit for what has been done there.”
