Lochee and Whiturn bosses say farewell with draw

WITH both managers leaving their posts after the game, the 3-3 Super League draw between Lochee United and Whitburn was charged with emotion, despite being a meaningless end-of-season-clash.

Lochee boss Raymond McKinnon has just finished his SFA coaching badges and is moving to the seniors while Whitburn coach Derek Strickland is taking a break from football to recharge his batteries.

A superb hat-trick from Scott Murphy earned a point for Whitburn but it was Lochee who battled back for the draw.

Gary Middleton put Lochee in front early on before Murphy levelled. He then put Whitburn in front and they went in 2-1 up at half-time.

The West Lothian team went further ahead just after the break when Murphy scored his third from the penalty spot.

Lochee pulled a goal back with a deflected effort before they, too, were awarded a penalty which Graeme Hay converted.
