Llanelli down and out after heavy defeat in Georgia

Llanelli saw their Europa League challenge ended with a heavy 5-0 defeat to Dinamo Tbilisi in the second leg of their second qualifying round clash at the Boris Paichadze Stadium.

The Welsh Premier League side travelled to Georgia holding a slender 2-1 lead from the opening match. But Xisco Munoz scored twice with Albert Yague, Robertinho and Carles Coto also getting on the scoresheet to put the hosts through 6-2 on aggregate and into a third qualifying round tie with KR Reykjavik of Iceland.

The New Saints went into their tie against FC Midtjylland hoping to overturn a 3-1 deficit from the opening leg, but the Danish side were too strong and secured a 5-2 victory on home soil to advance 8-3 on aggregate.

Sylvester Igboun, Jude Nworuh and Danny Olsen put the hosts 3-0 up at half-time with Nworuh and Mads Dittmer Hvilsom adding to the scoreline after the interval. Alex Darlington grabbed a brace for TNS, but it was not enough and the Danes will now face Vitoria Guimaraes in the next round.

Glentoran also crashed out, losing 5-0 on aggregate to Vorskla Poltava after a 3-0 defeat in Ukraine. Ahmed Januzi scored either side of Oleksiy Kurylov's 36th-minute strike to set up a clash with League of Ireland side Sligo Rovers.

l Chelsea stumbled to another fortunate win in their second pre-season friendly under Andre Villas-Boas against a Malaysian XI. The Blues won the first match of their far east tour in Kuala Lumpur but, as in their victory at Portsmouth just over a week earlier, they were far from convincing. And, like at Fratton Park, they needed an own goal to avoid a goalless draw in a match that saw new manager Villas-Boas again play two entirely different XIs in each half.

The winner arrived 12 minutes from time when Didier Drogba won a free-kick, which he took and smashed against the post, only for the ball to hit goalkeeper Mohd Izham Tarmizi and spin back towards the line. The substitute thought he had retrieved the ball in time but the goal was controversially awarded. Otherwise, Chelsea struggled against a side who conceded ten times against recent tourists Arsenal and Liverpool. Playing in extreme heat in front of a packed 84,980, the visitors began the match with captain John Terry, Drogba and Ashley Cole on the bench, and Fernando Torres spearheading a 4-3-3 formation.

Villas-Boas will be hoping for an improved performance in Sunday's game with Thailand All Stars in Bangkok, before heading to Hong Kong for the Barclays Asia Trophy.
